FIFA World Cup 2026 schedule complete after qualifier playoffs

Iraq, Turkey, Sweden, Czechia, Congo and Bosnia Herzegovina won playoffs to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Iraq edged Bolivia 2-1 and Congo beat Jamaica 1-0. Mexico hosted both games and will host the World Cup opener on June 11 against South Africa.

Bosnia, who outlasted Italy in penalty kicks, will play Canada in Toronto on June 12 in a group also containing Qatar and Switzerland. 

FIFA has increased the number of teams from 32 to 48 for this year’s World Cup to be held in Canada, United States and Mexico. Curacao, Cape Verde, Jordan and Uzbekistan will make their debut. Argentina is the defending champion.
