Why SGA (MVP and Finals MVP) is the greatest NBA player ever from Canada

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the pride of Hamilton, Ontario and the Oklahoma City Thunder, became the second Canadian after Steve Nash to be named NBA MVP after leading the NBA in scoring. Then he became the first Canadian ever to win NBA Finals MVP.

He also led Canada to the bronze medal at the FIBA World Cup with an overtime win over Team USA in Manila, Philippines, as well as a victory over Slovenia with Luka Doncic.

He finished second in MVP voting last year behind Nikola Jokic of Denver Nuggets and Team Serbia. SGA’s team OKC won 62 games this year — 18 more than Denver. SGA also led the NBA in plus-minus of more than 14 points per game.

Steve Nash, from Victoria, British Columbia, won two MVP awards back to back in 2005 and 2006 with Phoenix Suns. But he didn’t win Finals MVP. There’s no doubt that SGA is the greatest Canadian basketball player ever.
