FIBA, ESPN to air World Cup 2023

US sports network ESPN plans to show all 92 games of the FIBA World Cup from August 25 to September 10, FIBA announced in a press release.

ESPN 2 will show six games, including Team USA’s first three games in the Philippines, while all other games will be shown on ESPN+ and FIBA’s own streaming service “Courtside 1891”, according to FIBA.

FIBA also said that they will produce a broadcast feed with US commentators and content tailored to the US audience. “This will bring with it more new synergies that will make basketball more accessible and enjoyable for fans,” said Frank Leenders, FIBA Media and Marketing Services Director General.

“ESPN is excited to once again partner with FIBA and showcase this global event as well as all of the tremendous international talent,” said Ashley O’Connor, ESPN Sr. Director, Programming and Acquisitions. “We’re proud to serve basketball fans with live event coverage of the sport on a year-round basis.”

ESPN also recently aired the entire FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022.
