The Lie of 2011
Moments after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami:
At the Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, five reactors were automatically shut down after the quake, as designed. However, there is shortage of water to cool the reactors to a safe temperature because diesel generators used to cool the water are partially down due to a lack of electricity, according to NHK. There are no immediate safety concerns, TEPCO says, according to NHK, but the plant issued an emergency alarm.
